If you have chosen to drive yourself then your first step is to head towards the Gold coast and then onto Sydney. Once you reach the Gold Coast you will need to head south towards Ballina where you will continue along the Pacific Highway until you reach Hexham.

Once you reach Hexham you will need to transfer over to the Sydney-Newcastle freeway for the journey into Sydney. You may want to stay a night or two in Sydney to take in the sights before continuing on your journey. There is no shortage of things to see and do for the kids and the adults.

When you are ready to leave Sydney you will need to get on the Hume highway for the next leg of the journey to Melbourne where you will catch the ferry to Tasmania. Along the Hume Highway you will pass through Goulburn, Yass, Tarcutta and Holbrook. When you reach Wodoonga you have another 314kms to go before reaching Melbourne.

From Port Melbourne you will need to catch the ferry across Bass Strait to Devonport. Make sure you book well in advance to avoid disappointment. The ferry journey will take about 11hrs but there is plenty to do on board for both you and the kids.

Once you reach Devonport you only have another 297kms to your new home in Devonport.
